Travel Insurance Shenanigans

G'day all.  Well after recommending the Post Office travel insurance policy in an earlier post, I went to renew mine yesterday and found out that they have changed the policy wording - and not for the better.

I realise this is a boring topic, but it's also an important one.

Last year, at the time of doing the trip, Motorcycling was in a category within the policy wording that effectively meant it was ok to do, providing you were within the engine cc limits etc.  But basically if you had a motorcycle accident you were covered for medical costs for your injuries, and if necessary repatriation and suchlike.  That's the way we interpreted the lengthy wording.  This year, motorcycling is in a category where you are still covered, but crucially personal accident and personal liability are excluded from it.

So in a nutshell, if you have a motorcycle accident, then in terms of medical costs and liability to any other injured parties - you're on your own.  Not good.

Interestingly, it's still ok to go shark diving or gorilla trekking.

So I'm going to change my earlier recommendation from Post Office travel insurance to Carole Nash travel insurance which is geared up for trips of this sort. If anyone knows any better please comment.
